The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is the erstwhile Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU), the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic Science and allied subjects. The NFSU Dharwad is the new campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It has been a long-cherished dream to set up this NFSU Dharwad in South India. The city is located in the northwestern part of the Indian state of Karnataka and is an administrative district of the state of Karnataka in southern India. Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah laid the Foundation Stone for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) campus at Dharwad on 28th Jan 2023. National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) will be built at an area of 46 acres of land at Dharwad.
The National Forensic Sciences University, Dharwad campus is established with the objective of strengthening Forensic Education in Karnataka and neighbouring states. As a part of its mission, the University is offering five specialized academic programmes in the niche areas of Forensic Sciences, Pharmacy, and Cyber Security, namely B.Sc.-M.Sc. Forensic sciences, PG Diploma Crime Scene Management, M. Pharm. Forensic Pharmacy, M. Sc. Environmental Science & B.Tech-M.Tech Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security). The campus is planning to offer more programs in the next academic year.
The NFSU, Dharwad campus also intends to offer a short-term training programs and need-based workshops for police personnel, judiciary, security officials, bankers, chartered accountants, and government officials of Karnataka and the neighbouring states.
The vision is to develop NFSU, Dharwad Campus as a “Centre of Excellence” offering education and research opportunities of very high standards in Forensic, cyber security, Pharmacy & Allied Sciences.
